History[]

Ultraman Cosmos[]

Gelworm were a pair of alien caterpillar-like creatures that lived on a small meteor in space. When the meteor landed on Earth, it was found and brought to the Hokuryo University, where it was scanned, tested, and transported all around the campus. During one of its transports though, a blue male Gelworm was separated from his mate, causing the pink female to occasionally emit radio waves, in the hopes that her mate would be able to reunite with her. To help him with his journey, the blue Gelworm would bite, copy, and transform into multiple humans in order to find the source of her radio waves, but his transformed state didn't last long enough from him to find his mate, and with the meteor constantly moving around campus, their reunion was drawn out for many days. As the female continued emitting radio waves, it caught the attention of EYES, who sent Musashi and Fubuki to investigate, believing it was the result of alien activity.

As the two continued their investigation, the pair encountered the transformed Gelworm, believing him to be a doppelganger. While trying to evade the team's pursuit, the Gelworm took the form of a female student, Fubuki himself, and Professor Takamura of the university, but was caught and chased after on each occasion by the duo. Cornering the imposter in a research laboratory, Gelworm stumbled into a liquefied gas chamber and was mutated after being blasted by a gas that proliferates cells, causing him to become unstable and flee from the university. Finally after losing control of himself, the Gelworm shed his disguise and took on a gigantic form, attempting to reunite with his mate by force. EYES was quick to the scene to apprehend the monster with their laser net, but Gelworm broke through their net with little effort, causing Musashi to transform into Ultraman Cosmos to save the team before their could crash. Cosmos then confronted the monster himself, and was able to keep Gelworm away from the University with ease. This however only enraged Gelworm, who bit into Cosmos and transformed into a copy of the ultra to give him a tougher fight. Cosmos and the doppelganger fought to a standstill, but when Gelworm attempted to use the ultra's Full Moon Rect, he learned that he lacked the ability to do so, allowing the real Cosmos to pacify (and expose) the doppelganger with the attack instead.

Meanwhile during the fight between Cosmos and Gelworm, Fubuki learned about the monster's desire to reunite with the meteor (after previously witnessing a failed attempt by him to break open the meteor's containment tank). Taking the meteor outside, Fubuki called out to the monster and presented him with the meteor. Now docile after being pacified and reunited with the meteor he was looking for, Gelworm immediately returned back to his original size and reunited with his mate after so long. Together once more, both Gelworms immediately headed back into space.

Abilities[]

  • Shapeshifting: By biting its selected target, Gelworm can alter their own DNA and transform themselves into identical copies of the subjects they bite. Their transformed states notably drool blue goo from their mouths, and lack the ability to speak, and a majority of superpowers that their original target may possess. There is also a limit to how long they can remain transformed before reverting back to their original appearances.
