Genki Kagura (神楽 元気カグラ・ゲンキ[1], Kagura Genki) is the main protagonist of the 2000 tokusatsu series Ultraman Neos. A 24-year-old[1] soldier from the Japan Self-Defense Forces' Special Strategic Unit, he is a skilled and courageous fighter.

Personality[]

Kagura has a cheerful and energetic personality, often referring to himself as "an Ultraman beyond Miracleman" (ミラクルマンを超えたウルトラマン, Mirakuruman o koeta Urutoraman) in recognition of his miraculous survival. However, he also struggles with inner conflict, particularly when facing Alien Zamu-related incidents, reflecting his deep sense of responsibility.

History[]

While on assignment at DJ's deep-space radio telescope, Kagura encountered the Dark Matter phenomenon and successfully rescued his team. However, during the chaos, an Alien Zamu spaceship collided with their station, sending him adrift into the vastness of space.

Just as his fate seemed sealed, Zoffy, the leader of the Ultra Brothers, saved him. Recognizing Kagura's bravery, Zoffy granted him the honor of merging with Neos, allowing him to return to Earth as the giant hero's human host.

Behind the Scenes[]

Portrayal[]

Genki Kagura is portrayed by Jun Takatsuki (高槻 純, Takatsuki Jun).

Notes[]

  • In the pilot version of Ultraman Neos, the protagonist's name was originally Kei Kagura (カグラ・ケイ, Kagura Kei)[2] instead of Genki Kagura, which was later used in the official TV series.
