Green Monse (グリーンモンス, Gurīnmonsu), also known as Greensmons, is a Plant Life-Form that appeared in Ultraman.

  • Subtitle: Strange Plant (怪奇植物, Kaiki Shokubutsu)

History[]

Ultraman[]

Green Monse was originally the juvenile form of a rare Flower known as a "Miroganda," which was located on Oilis Island.[1] As a juvenile, Green Monse was very hostile towards anyone that strayed too closely to it, and threatened to consume Photographer Setsuko Hamaguchi. Luckily she managed to escape the planet while Dr. Yamada took the Miroganda on the Island. Back in Japan, Dr. Yamada experimented on the Miroganda with some radiation (which he had been known to do with his other work on Plants,) but rather than benefit the Miroganda, it regressed the plant back into its Juvenile Form as Green Monse, who proceeded to kill Dr. Yamada, as well as hunt down the rest of those who attended the Doctor on his Expedition. Green Monse also attempted to eat Setsuko Hamaguchi last, but the life form was thwarted by the Science Patrol (who was watching her to protect her from the Monster,) who blasted Green Monse with their Superguns, launching it into a nearby Pond.

Later that night though, the Science Patrol learned that Green Monse was still alive and was attacking Marunouchi. Having grown to enormous proportions due to absorbing the energy of the Science Patrol's Superguns, Green Monse began attacking the city. The Science Patrol returned to attack Green Monse once more, but this time the life-form easily shrugged off their opposition and managed to paralyze Arashi with its Misty Poison. Luckily, Arashi was rescue by Hayata, who took his comrade to a discrete location so that he could transform into Ultraman to fight the Life-Form himself. Green Monse immediately attempted to subdue Ultraman by paralyzing him with its Misty Poison too, but Ultraman managed to fight through his paralysis, and he struck Green Monse with his Specium Ray, setting the Life-Form ablaze until all that was left of the Plant Monster were Ashes.[The Secret of the Miroganda]
