Gymaira (ギマイラ, Gimaira) is a monster that appeared in Ultraman 80.
- Subtitle: Vampire Monster (吸血怪獣, Kyūketsu Kaijū)
History[]
Ultraman 80[]
Gymaira was a monster who came to Earth from space 20 years ago, chasing after an alien woman named Sawako. Upon landing on Earth, Gymaira took up residence inside of a massive cave on Shiokaze Island, where he would feed on the humans' blood through the use of his hypnotic gases to give himself the energy he needed for the next 20 years. During Ultraman 80’s time, one of UGM's members named chief Ito was sent to investigate the island, only for Ito to be mutated into the monster Lavras by Gymaira, whom had felt threatened by his intrusion. Shortly after, UGM visited the island too to look for Ito. Gymaira would try to drive off UGM from his feeding grounds by means of using the island's hypnotized tourists to attack them, as well as calling upon Lavras, and the octopus monster Daron to eliminate UGM. However, Ultraman 80 managed to defeat Daron in battle and Lavras was left to wander away in pain.
Finally while Gymaira was feeding on his hypnotized tourists yet again, the vengeful Sawako journeyed into his cave with a powerful explosive that belonged to UGM, and she detonated it as Gymaira was feeding. Enraged, Gymaira burst out of the cave to attack his provokers himself. At first, the SDF tried to fight off Gymaira, but it was no good due to the space monster's immense strength. Takeshi was able to transform into Ultraman 80 to do battle against the space monster, but again, Gymaira's strength allowed him to overpower 80. Then after Gymaira whipped out his long tongue and started electrocuting 80, Lavras returned from before and quickly saved 80 by stabbing Gymaira in the neck. Despite Lavras's heroic efforts though, it only provoked Gymaira into attacking him instead. The sadistic monster bombarded Lavras with its hypnotic gas and its tail before stabbing Lavras with its horn and charging its innards, killing Lavras and Ito in the process. Having witnessed what had happened, 80 was determined to avenge him, and using the last of his available strength, the Ultra obliterated Gymaira with his Moonsault Kick.[1][Fly to the Sinister Monster Island!! Part 2]

Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy[]
Arriving on Planet Feed, Absolute Tartarus had a newly-recruited Reibatos use his resurrection ability to revive a Gymaira to attack Ultraman 80 (who was helping fellow ultras: Neos and Ultraseven 21 in stopping a revived Leugocyte). Gymaira managed to ambush, ensnare, and electrocute 80 with its tongue, allowing Leugocyte to overpower the other two ultras, but after the arrival of Ultraman Cosmos and Ultraman Justice, the ultras regained control of their battle. Gymaira was then destroyed after 80 fired his Shooting Beam at the monster.
Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga[]
Gymaira was a vicious space monster, with a tongue that shoots electric shocks, that had settled on Earth prior to its awakening.[3] It emerged from the sea and immediately went on a rampage through Sorafune City. GUTS-Select was dispatched, with Nanase piloting the GUTS Falcon to hold off Gymaira. GUTS-Select's efforts however were quickly halted when Kengo transformed into Ultraman Trigger and confronted Gymaira. Gymaira managed to briefly overpower Trigger with its natural strength, but the ultra pounced on the monster and pinned it to the ground, and Trigger destroyed Gymaira by firing his Zeperion Beam directly at its face.[Leap to the Future]
Abilities[]
- Tongue: Gymaira uses his tongue to suck the blood (or magic energy) out of his victims to give himself energy. Gymaira's tongue can also electrocute any opponent he ensnares with it.
- Poisonous Gas/Fog: Gymaira can spew a white gas from his mouth. Breathing in the gas causes its victim to fall into a hypnotic state and is placed under Gymaira's control (This can be conquered by either possessing a strong will or a certain amount of pain.) It also has highly explosive properties.
- Destructive Ray: Later incarnations of this attack depict Gymaira as being able fire a destructive blue heat ray from his mouth.
- Monsterified Ray (怪獣化光線, Kaijūka Kōsen): Gymaira can fire a purple bolt of energy from the tip of his horn. Being struck by the ray will cause anyone to mutate into a monster that will serve Gymaira. This ray however does not affect inorganic material.
- Tsuno Thunder (ツノ・サンダー, Tsuno Sandā): An alternative version of the aforementioned attack, in which Gymaira can fire a blue bolt of energy from the tip of his horn. This variation does not transform anyone it strikes into a monster, but is no less powerful as an offensive attack.
- Physical Strength: Gymaira's strength is considerably impressive, being able to overpower Ultraman 80 with relative ease.
