The official name of MAC (マック, Makku) is the Monster Attacking Crew (怪獣攻撃隊, Kaijū Kōgeki-tai), though its primary mission is to prevent invasion from extraterrestrial sources and ensure the safety of spacecraft navigation as a Space Patrol Unit.
History[]
MAC operates main base stations called MAC Station over the major cities of America, Europe, Africa, and Asia to ensure the safety of spacecraft navigation and promptly detect and repel attacks from monsters or aliens. While ground-based bases like the MAC Tokyo Branch (MAC東京支部, MAC Tōkyō Shibu) exist, as seen in episode 34, the primary bases are the space stations. In the series, only the Asian headquarters appeared, where Captain Dan Moroboshi leads the regular unit known as the Space Patrol Unit (宇宙パトロール隊, Uchū Patorōru-tai).
Due to the story's structure, MAC members have fewer opportunities to shine compared to previous defense teams. There is a high turnover rate among the members, with many casualties and transfers. However, up until episode 39, all casualties were regular MAC members, and the elite Space Patrol Unit, like its predecessors, had not suffered any losses. In episode 40, the Asian headquarters was devastated by a surprise attack from Silverbloome, resulting in casualties for all Asian branch members except Gen Otori and Dan.
Origins[]
Before its formation, there was a precursor organization known as the Earth Defense Force (地球防衛隊, Chikyū Bōei-tai). In episode 16, Dan mentions that a member who was tracking Alien Atler turned into a wax figure-like state and died. Additionally, in episode 25, an organization called the Earth Defense Committee (地球防衛委員会, Chikyū Bōei Iinkai) is mentioned, but details about it remain unclear.

- The development where the headquarters of the protagonist's defense team was consumed by a monster and disappeared is an unusual event in the series. Another alternative scenario involved the destruction of MAC as a premise, with the Ultra Brothers fighting on a flying saucer. While MAC was labeled as completely destroyed in the subtitle of episode 40, this created a strong impression of total annihilation. However, in reality, only the Asia branch was destroyed, not the entire organization. Nevertheless, the destruction of the Asia branch effectively led to the loss of MAC.
