History[]
Ultra-Ancient Times[]
- Main article: Ultraman Trigger
Thirty million years ago, the world was engulfed in terrifying darkness. Trigger Dark and the Giants of Darkness destroyed the Ultra-Ancient civilization and aimed to obtain the Eternity Core together.[For Smiles]
However, with the interference of Kengo Manaka, who had travelled from thirty million years in the future, Trigger would eventually be turned to the light, betraying his comrades and sealed them deep in space with the help of Yuzare. With his power spent, the Giant of Light slept in the red star, and was forgotten to time.
Modern Day[]
Even before Kengo had inherited Ultraman Trigger's light, he witnessed a nightmare of a mysterious woman who told him that he was light before becoming engulfed in darkness, with a Giant of Darkness that loomed over and fired a beam at him. As the mysteries behind the Ultra-Ancient civilization began to unfold, Kengo bore witness to many more visions and memories from Ultra-Ancient times. One of the visions Kengo witnessed was the destruction of the Ultra-Ancient civilization at the hands of three Giants of Darkness. As the Giants of Darkness slowly approached him, Kengo looked down at his hands to see that he had assumed a strange appearance.
Trigger Dark's Revival[]
As the mysteries behind the Ultra-Ancient civilization began to unfold, Kengo bore witness to many more visions and memories from Ultra-Ancient times. With Yuna Shizuma slowly awakening the powers of her ancestor, the final portion of the stone tablet was unveiled and revealed the existence of the fourth Giant of Darkness, who turned out to be Trigger himself.
Carmeara casted a dark curse on Trigger, which led to Kengo being sent back through time. Trigger's vessel in the present suddenly rose up from the ground and was transformed by the darkness into Trigger Dark, causing destruction as he reawakened.[The Encounter of Light and Darkness]
Power of Glitter[]
Through the present day Trigger Dark, Kengo heard the calls of Akito and Yuna for him to return. Kengo's transformation into Ultraman Trigger caused the four Giants of Darkness to regain their memories of what occurred in the past. Ultraman Trigger received the fragment of the Eternity Core from Yuzare, and awaken as Glitter Trigger Eternity. The three Giants of Darkness retreated and Trigger Dark was defeated by Ultraman Trigger. Although Trigger Dark was destroyed his dark remnants entered into Ignis.[The 30-Million-Year Miracle]
Ignis Becomes Trigger Dark[]
After the dark remnants entered Ignis, Ignis stole a GUTS Sparklence prototype and Hyper Keys from Akito's lab and created the Black Sparklence and the Trigger Dark Key. With these items he transformed into Trigger Dark.[Operation Dragon][Sneering Destruction]

Portrayal[]
Notes[]
- Trigger Dark becoming a separate entity from Ultraman Trigger is similar to many instances in stage shows where Ultraman Tiga is pitted against Tiga Dark.
- According to episode director Tomonobu Koshi, the Horoboros Key gives Trigger Dark powers comparable to Sky Type, while the Zaigorg Key gives Trigger Dark powers comparable to Power Type. The colors of the monsters also match each type.[1]
