Ultraman Nexus (ウルトラマンネクサス, Urutoraman Nekusasu) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama in Tsuburaya's Ultra Series and seventienth series overall. This series started on October 2, 2004.

This is the final part of the ill-fated Ultra N Project. The show was an experiment by Tsuburaya to see if they could produce a darker Ultraman story with an emphasis that "anyone can be Ultraman".

On December 1, 2015, Tsuburaya announced that to commemorate the show's 10th anniversary, it would be streamed worldwide on Crunchyroll at an unspecified date[1]. This makes it the sixth Ultra Series to be on the streaming service.

Plot

In an era of global terrorism, how would people really react to a mysterious alien that battled deadly monsters on Earth? Would a suspicious human race be capable of viewing that Ultraman as a friend? Ultraman Nexus follows Kazuki Komon, a first responder who joins the Night Raiders, a secret group that battles murderous monsters called Space Beasts. Komon's life is changed after the mysterious giant called Ultraman saves his life, but is shocked to find that the Night Raiders' parent organization, TLT, is inclined to view Ultraman as a threat[2].

Notes

  • Originally, the series was intended to last for 52 episodes; concept art of several scrapped Space Beasts still exists, as well as a transformed state of Dark Zagi, known as "Dark Lucifer," as the series' final villain. However, the network airing the show on a block intended for children resulted in the series missing its target audience and gaining poor ratings and negative reception, causing the series to be cut to 37 episodes and causing Tsuburaya to give its following project, Ultraman Max, a lighter tone.
