Ultraman Tiga (ウルトラマンティガ, Urutoraman Tiga) is an Ultra-Ancient Giant of Light who protected the Ultra-Ancient civilization thirty millions years ago. He has been resurrected in the present day by GUTS member Daigo Madoka, who turned into light and integrated with the Tiga's statue. In addition to his basic form of Multi Type, he can also Type Change into Power Type and Sky Type depending on the opponent he is fighting, making him the first Ultraman who can change forms.
History[]
Ultra-Ancient Times[]

The four Giants of Darkness.
Thirty million years ago, Tiga was among the many human warriors of the ancient civilization chosen to assimilate with the light. However, the hidden darkness within the hearts of four giants of light caused their transformation into giants of darkness.[1] However, of the Giants of Darkness, Tiga regained his righteous heart by the influence of Yuzare and reformed as a Giant of Light again. He battled the other three Giants of Darkness, took and converted their dark powers to light, and along with the remaining Giants of Light sealed them away.
The advent of Gijera would eventually lead the Ultra-Ancient civilization to their own self-destruction with its pollen the induced humanity with enjoyable dreams. The Giants of Light couldn't interfere with humanity's decision and resulted to imprinting their powers deep into the human genes for humanity of the future, in hopes that the same tragedy would not be repeated again. The light that assimilated with the warrior separated from the body and departed for their home nebula. Their statues remained asleep for millennia.
Revival of the Ancient Giant[]
Tiga once protected a village from Degouf. With his mission over and the evil spirit defeated, Tiga disappeared into the mountains. [Ultraman Tiga Side Story: Revival of the Ancient Giant]
Reawakened in the Present[]
As monsters began to awaken, GUTS uncovered the time capsule from the Ultra-Ancient civilization that contained a holographic message from Yuzare. She called upon the humans of that era to resurrect Tiga, who laid rest for thirty million years in the pyramid in the land of Tiga. Having located the location in the Tohoku region of Japan, the team rushed to search for Tiga. Daigo is drawn to the giant's statue and entered the pyramid. As they ran out of time in the pyramid and the noises in his head intensified, Daigo stormed off from his teammates and attempted to steer the monsters away from the statues. When his GUTS Wing was shot down by Melba and about to crash, Daigo became light and merged with Tiga's statue and brought the Giant of Light back to life and defeated the monsters.[Inheritance of Light]
Although Yuzare addressed Daigo as Ultraman Tiga, he refused to accept it and tossed away his Sparklence, the very proof of him being Tiga. She revealed the Giants of Light could not interfere with the actions of mankind, but Daigo was different as he was both human and light. He would use the Sparklence to become Tiga once again to save GUTS and TPC's investigate team from Gakuma β. Daigo finally accepted his destiny as Ultraman Tiga, and suggested the name to the team rather than addressing him as "the giant".[Legend of the Stone]
Protector of Earth[]
The appearance of monsters and Ultraman Tiga had caught the attention of people all around the world, but had all attracted dangerous enemies that could become obstacles for Earth's peace. The Infernal Demons Kyriel, who came to Earth long before Tiga, were displeased with him interfering with their plans to lead humanity and sought to get rid of Ultraman Tiga.[The Devil's Prophecy]
The sudden activity of a dormant volcano was investigated by GUTS, who used the Peepar to drill underground. There they discovered Golza, who had fled from the land of Tiga to Kirimon Peak. It has absorbed magma energy and empowered into Golza (Empowered). Tiga appeared to finish off the Ultra-Ancient Monster and defeated Golza. To prevent the volcano's eruption, Tiga threw Golza into the volcano and it was incinerated by the magma. [Golza Strikes Back!]
In an attempt to prevent Gobnu (Giga) from denoting with the Dive Hangar, Ultraman Tiga flew with it up high into the atmosphere right as his energy ran out and he vanished. While unconscious, Daigo was taunted by the Kyriel and made to question what made him qualified to be Tiga. Yuzare appeared to tell him the power of light was something that was passed down for ages and he was not alone in humanity's push forward into the next generation.[GUTS Into Space (Part 2)]

Inheritance of Shadow[]
GUTS followed the shark monster that was headed for Kumamoto Castle. It suddenly emitted wavelengths from its fin that made Daigo's Sparklence resonant and glowed, and the waves also shut down the GUTS Wing's systems. Daigo inspected the Sparklence and a telepathic message played before him. The mysterious man had known Daigo was the inheritor of the light and wished to see how he transformed into light. Geozark began to move again and headed for an amusement park. Ultraman Tiga was able to pull it out of the ground, but as he was about to destroy it the same man appeared in its eye and mocked Daigo for wasting his power on trivial things. The Sparklence was stolen from Daigo when the mysterious man attacked him that night. Daigo wondered if something nearby had cause the Sparklence to glow. While resting near a abandoned shrine, a stray dog lead him down a tunnel where he stumbled upon the statues of a Giant of Light and a monster beside it.[Land Shark]
Daigo finally met the man named Keigo Masaki, who viewed Ultraman as a god and believed it was Ultraman's duty to shape humankind's evolution. He had discovered Daigo was the one who brought Ultraman Tiga back to life from the TPC video archives, that were secretly sent to him by Professor Tango. Keigo Masaki required Daigo's system to transform himself into light, but Daigo retorted that he couldn't become Ultraman. Keigo showed Daigo that they shared the same root DNA, and placed the Sparklence in the light converter. Daigo warned against becoming with light with an impure heart, but Keigo Masaki proceeded and turned himself into light and entered the Giant's statue. The Giant was brought back to life and it headed for Kumamoto City. As Evil Tiga began to run amok, the stray dog was turned into light and resurrected Guardie. Daigo managed to get passed the electric field to reclaim his Sparklence and arrived to battle Evil Tiga. As Guardie struggled to get back up, Evil Tiga mercilessly killed it, enraging Tiga. They were equally matched in battle and but Tiga just barely managed to win, with Evil Tiga losing most of his energy. Ultraman Tiga defeated him with the Zeperion Beam and reverted Keigo Masaki back into his original human form. Tiga mourned for the deceased Guardie and flew off with its body.[Inheritance of Shadow]
Ruler of Darkness[]
While GUTS was investigating a strange plasma signature, they discovered strange flowers growing in a field. The ancient memories in Daigo's DNA awakened and saw visions that tied the flowers to an ancient civilization's destruction. Daigo discovered more in a nearby forest and met Terra, a strange girl who knew of the flowers. Gijera's flowers were blooming all across the planet once again, signaling an impending apocalypse and Nook warned Daigo of the return of a dreadful darkness. Although the rest of humanity were enthralled by Gijera's pollen, Daigo was left unaffected and bore witness to everyone fighting one another for its flowers. Remembering that he was both light and human, Daigo resolved to interfere with humanity's decision and destroyed Gijera. [Eternal Life]
Mysterious monuments and landmass rose in the seabed off New Zealand and was followed by the reawakening of the Zoigers, the servants of the Ruler of Darkness. They attacked all corners of the world and the darkness shrouded the entire planet. Gatanothor finally emerged out of the pacific ocean. Daigo transformed into Tiga and fought Gatanothor. Tiga struggled in the battle as the monster was extremely durable and its attacks were unpredictable, and was defeated by Gatanothor who fired a petrification beam through Tiga, returning him to a stone statue and sank to the ocean floor. [Ruler of Darkness]
To the Shining Ones[]
Despite the lost of the Giant of Light, humanity tried their best to revive Tiga with their science. Just as their operation failed, the hopes of children all over the world transformed themselves into light and revived Tiga once more. With his tremendous power as Glitter Tiga, he destroyed the evil god once and for all. But with this victory and Gatanothor's death, Daigo had fulfilled his duty and could no longer transform into Ultraman Tiga as the Sparklence disintegrated. [To the Shining Ones]
The Final Odyssey[]
Ultraman Dyna[]

Tiga returns by the power of light.
In the face of despair, humanity once again became light and materialized in the form of Ultraman Tiga. Tiga rescued Dyna from Queen Monera's hold and they fought together to save the world. They destroyed the giant alien with the TD Special, the combined power of their beam attacks. With a victorious battle won, Tiga and Dyna faded into light that coalesced together, passing on humanity's light to Dyna before it vanished. [Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light]
Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga[]

Ultraman Tiga summoned by Mitsukuni's light.
Ultraman Tiga was the Giant of Light that often helped the Earth where Mitsukuni Shizuma once fought as a member of the TPC. He was occasionally brought up by Chairman Shizuma, who was a castaway from the world where Tiga was from.[The Wings of That Day]
During the appearance of Kyrieloid, who overwhelmed Ultraman Trigger and GUTS-Select, the light within Mitsukuni Shizuma shined. The courage and hope from when he fought with Tiga was still within him. His daughter Yuna Shizuma used Yuzare's power and drew out his light, which coalesced into the form of a Sparklence. Mitsukuni summoned the light which took the form of Ultraman Tiga.

Ultraman Tiga transferred energy to Ultraman Trigger with his Crystal Power ability. The two Giants of Light joined forces and took on Kyrieloid. They type changed into Power Type and engaged into hand to hand combat with the demonic being, firing double Deracium Light Torrents at it. Kyriel grew wings from its back and took to the sky. Tiga and Trigger both changed to Sky Type and pursued him in an intense, high-speed aerial battle. They destroyed its wings and drove it back toward the ground where Tiga and Trigger unleashed an unrelenting onslaught of attacks against Kyrieloid. Tiga and Trigger fired their Zeperion Beams together and defeated Kyrieloid. After an intense battle with Kyrieloid, Yuna and Mitsukuni bid their thanks to the two Giants of Light as they flew off. Yuna thanked her father and they bonded over this miraculous moment.[What Makes a Savior]
