Ultraman Z (ウルトラマンZゼット, Urutoraman Zetto) is a Japanese tokusatsu drama in Tsuburaya Productions's Ultra Series. It is the 32nd series overall. The series started on June 20, 2020 on TV Tokyo and concluded airing on December 26, 2020.

The series received an English language dub produced by Okratron 5000, which releases weekly Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 PM JST on Tsuburaya Productions' official YouTube channel and Ultraman Connection starting from April 8, 2023.[1][2]

The tagline of the series is "Chant My Name!" (ご唱和ください 我の名を!, Goshōwa kudasai ware no na wo!).

Synopsis[]

In the past, a devil’s splinters were scattered across space. Today, the splinters is still causing chaos throughout the universe. While the Ultra Heroes fight to restore peace to the galaxy, a mysterious being uses these items in its despicable schemes to destroy planets one by one. And now, that evil being approaches the Land of Light.

In its way stands the gallant Ultraman Zero and his disciple, Ultraman Z. At the end of a fierce battle, Z chases a monster alone, making his way towards Earth.

Meanwhile on Earth, a defense force to combat routine monster appearances, the anti-monster robot force STORAGE, is formed and joined by the hot-blooded youth Haruki Natsukawa. When a monster from space invades Earth, Z and Haruki have their fateful encounter. Here begins the passionate story of our two young heroes’ battles![3]

Re-release[]

Owing to the series' popularity, Ultraman Z was re-released on Tsuburaya's official YouTube channel under the title "[Chant my name once again!] Ultraman Z Weekly STORAGE!", beginning on February 2, 2021 with the final episode being released on July 25. Starting with episode 9, a new weekly segment would be introduced at the beginning of every episode, consisting of newly-filmed short skits featuring Haruki and Z.

  • The series was broadcasted by Tsuburaya Productions through their official YouTube Channel with official English subtitles.[4]
  • Ultraman Z's head writer was originally Kota Fukihara, having written several episodes and storylines, but was soon replaced mid-production due to news of Fukihara passing due to brain hemorrhage.
  • This series is the first since Ultraman Max to not have a featured movie.
  • Ultraman Z ranked 6th place on 2020's "100 Internet Buzzwords" in Japan, held by "Nico Nico Pedia" and "Pixiv Encyclopedia".[5]
